First Reading: 1 Sam 3, 3b-10.19
Second Reading: 1 Kor 6, 13c-15a.17-20
Gospel: Joh 1, 35-42
Points:
- there are questions regarding the future of the Church in many european countries. How the church will survive. What is the future of the Church?
– the readings gives some light in this matter.
- samuel called by God. Eli had sons but “unfit” for God. Samuel was accepted by God.
- Call in the night = we are also called to bring light in the “darkness”
- We donot know what was the theme God spoke to Samuel. But we know Samuel gets a new life. Samuel turns to be a listener of God. We need a listening Ear and heart.
- Eli was experienced, but he recognizes it after second time. It may not his fault. Some time we too need time to distinguish the “Voice of God” from other “sounds of the world”. Better late than never.
- Our Youth are not so bad as we think. They can hear and obey the word of God. We have so much examples. What we need is to guide them Properly as Eli did to Samuel. That is a missing fator! There are so much ways and sounds in the world of the youth. They need proper guide and gulidelines.
- We need more “samuel” – to lead the “sleeping church in darkess” to light of God.
Let us first appreciate them and encourage their good works.
