In today's readings we hear about two types of hosts.In the first reading it was Abraham and in the Gospel the known sisters,
Marta and Mary.
We listen in Genesis, how Abraham received his guests.
He was compelling them to accept the invitation.
Because he who knew the heat and traps in the desert.
He knew how difficult it was to travel through such a desert.
He ordered his servents to prepare a tender, choice steer, fresh bread, curds and milk for the guests...His treat was hearty.
Because he is the “father of the people”, who respected guests.
In india there is a saying:“Athidhi devo bhava”.
