Sermon thoughts - 2nd Sunday in Lent- C - "Reminiscere" - Gen 15, 5-12. 17-18 - Lk 9, 28-36

God was someone who was not approachable for men; somebody who was hot tempered and so Power-loving. Old Testament delivers such kind of the picture of God mostly. But there were exceptions too. Abram the father of the faithful gets another image of God; the first reading is having such a narration. Abram (his name is changed later to Abraham) is getting a great promise from God. It was a great Word. His children will be as countless as the stars in the sky... Abram was aware of his biological and natural limitation for that. As he knew that he will be having no children of his own, he could doubt and question that. And that was his fear… But the scripture says “Abram put his faith in the LORD, who credited it to him as an act of righteousness.” (Gen 15, 6) In the second reading we hear a sentence from Paul. He was so powerful and intelligent among the Apostles. He had great conviction and faith. Still regarding faith he remains humble and simple. He was able to believe in heaven and in the saving power of Jesus even among the many hardships and vehement atmospheres. read more...
